Your friendly, dedicated and knowledgeable dog trainer

Newsletter June 2026

-Welcome!

Welcome to another first for Lincs Dog Training – our very first newsletter!

Recently, we celebrated our first anniversary at our new training centre, a milestone we’re incredibly proud of. As part of the celebrations, we distributed feedback forms in class and received an amazing 55 responses. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts and suggestions.

While our purpose-built training centre may only be celebrating its first birthday, Lincs Dog Training has been helping dogs and their owners since 2008. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working with thousands of dogs and handlers, supporting them through everything from puppyhood and basic training to competitive dog sports and advanced activities.

As so many of you expressed an interest in receiving regular updates about what’s happening at Lincs Dog Training, we thought we’d launch our very first newsletter. This is our trial edition, and naturally, we’re starting by responding to some of your comments and suggestions.

Since opening the new centre, we’ve continued to grow and expand what we offer, introducing new classes, workshops and activities while celebrating countless achievements from our clients and their dogs. The new venue has allowed us to create a dedicated training environment that supports dogs and handlers at every stage of their journey.

We’re excited to use this newsletter to share news, celebrate successes, keep you updated on future events, and give you a behind-the-scenes look at life at Lincs Dog Training. Thank you for being part of our community—we look forward to many more years of training, learning and success together.

A New Addition to the Team

We would also like to introduce the newest member of Lorraine’s family and the extended Lincs Dog Training team – Henry, a one-year-old Papillon.

Like all dogs, Henry has his own strengths, challenges and learning opportunities, and we’re looking forward to sharing parts of his journey with you as he progresses through his training.

Henry has recently joined Lorraine and is just beginning his training journey. As a result, many of you may start to see Lorraine attending classes from the other side of the lead for a change, as she joins in as a student and works through Henry’s training and development.

We have no doubt he’ll keep Lorraine on her toes and provide plenty of opportunities for learning, laughter and perhaps a little humility along the way!

Please feel free to say hello if you see Henry around the training centre – we’re sure he’ll enjoy making lots of new friends.

Your Feedback Matters

We were delighted to hear that most people find our initial booking system straightforward and easy to use.

Booking onto Level 2 classes can sometimes be a little more complicated, so we’d like to clarify how the process works. The notice board is updated every Monday with current availability, but spaces can change quickly if clients withdraw late or delay confirming their next class. This means a class that appears full at one point may later have spaces become available while waiting lists are still being managed.

Many of you also requested additional workshops. We’re pleased to say we’re already expanding our workshop programme, so keep an eye on the notice board in the training centre and the News & Events section of our website for upcoming opportunities.

Exciting New Activities

We’re thrilled to be introducing two new disciplines:

🔥 Mantrailing

The ultimate adventure for dogs who love using their noses. Whether your dog is shy, confident, energetic or somewhere in between, mantrailing offers purpose, teamwork and plenty of fun.

Trick Training

Our first Trick Training Workshop took place on 20th June and was a fantastic success.

During the 90-minute session, handlers and dogs enjoyed learning new tricks, building on existing skills and taking on exciting new challenges. It was wonderful to see the dogs thinking, problem-solving and growing in confidence as they worked alongside their owners.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the workshop such an enjoyable experience.

Our next Trick Training Workshop takes place on Saturday 18th July at 2:00pm.

Venue Improvements Update

We were delighted to hear how many of you are enjoying the new training centre and appreciate the work that has gone into creating a bespoke facility for our clients and their dogs.

Several suggestions appeared repeatedly, including tarmac, an automatic gate and noise reduction measures. We completely agree that all of these would be wonderful additions. If anyone would like to organise and fund these improvements, we would be absolutely delighted!

We are currently investigating additional outdoor lighting for the darker evenings ahead.

As for the leaking roof, we continue to remind our landlord regularly and will keep persevering until the issue is resolved.

The Legend of the Long Bolt

A special mention must go to the now legendary “long bolt”.

It was suggested that it needed something to keep it securely in the ground. We can assure you that this has not been for lack of trying.

Attempt one involved installing a pole in the ground. It quickly filled with mud and stones.

Attempt two featured a brick with perfectly sized holes for the drop bolt. Unfortunately, it developed an unfortunate habit of being dug up and relocated.

Undeterred, attempt three involved cement, bricks, a steel pole and a carefully protected surround to keep the mud out. We stood back proudly, convinced we had finally solved the problem.

The very next day, the farmer arrived to prepare for planting, graded the area flat and removed our masterpiece in the process.

The good news is that the bolt now has a cross-bolt to stop it escaping the gate, which currently feels like a major engineering achievement.

Hoopers Workshops

Sunday 16th August 2026 12noon to 1:30pm

Hoopers is a fun. Low-impact dog sport that focusses on flow, team work and distance handling. Dogs navigate a smooth course made up of hoops, barrels and tunnels – no jumps or sharp turns – making it suitable for dogs of all ages and abilities. It’s especially great for building confidence and communication, and ideal for dogs who prefer a gentler pace.
