Join us at Lincs Dog Training for fun, rewarding Scentwork UK workshops and classes that turn your dog’s natural sniffing ability into an exciting game of hide and seek. Scentwork is a brilliant way to build confidence, focus and teamwork while providing plenty of mental stimulation.

Foundation Workshops

The Foundation Workshops are delivered in two parts, approximately four weeks apart.

• Part 1: Building the foundations
• Developing motivation and engagement
• Conditioning a positive emotional response so your dog associates good things with the target odour
• Recognising your dog’s indication
• Introducing scent discrimination
• Preparing search set-ups
• Beginning a wall search

In Part 2, we build on those foundations and develop your dog’s search skills further.

• Part 2: Developing search skills — Drills and Skills
• A quick refresher of Part 1, with troubleshooting for individual concerns
• Line-up searches
• Triples search games

Foundation Workshops: £120 for Parts 1 and 2 inclusive.

After completing the foundation workshops, you’ll be automatically enrolled into Scent Club. Further details are included below.

Preparation for Trial Workshop

This workshop takes you through the full process of preparing for your first Scentwork UK trial. You’ll learn how to navigate the website, search for local trials and complete your entry. You and your dog will then practise Tier 1, Level 1 searches, with support and guidance to help you prepare for your first live trial.

Tier 1 to Tier 2 Progression Workshop

If you’ve started your Scentwork UK journey and completed some Tier 1 trials, this workshop will help you prepare for Tier 2.

We’ll develop your dog’s independence and confidence in more complex search areas. You’ll also build your skills as a handler by learning to read your dog’s body language more effectively and recognising when to step in and support your expert search partner.

Ongoing Scentwork Options

Scentwork UK Class

When: Mondays, 5pm – 5.45pm
Cost: £64 for a 4-week month or £80 for a 5-week month
Spaces: Limited to 4 dogs per session

This regular monthly class offers a more personalised approach, focusing on Scentwork techniques and searches.

Scent Club

When: Saturdays, 10am – 11.30am
Cost: £25 per session
Spaces: Limited to 6 dogs per session

There is no need to commit to a weekly class. Scent Club is advertised each week through the club WhatsApp group, with sessions alternating between improving technique and undertaking searches.

Is Scentwork UK Right for Your Dog?

Scentwork is suitable for dogs of any age or breed, from puppies learning new skills to older dogs who would benefit from a calm, enriching activity.

Give your dog the ultimate Scentwork adventure. Our Scent Sports class blends the thrill of tracking, the precision of trailing, and the excitement of area searches — all taught outdoors to mirror real‑world environments.

This small, supportive class is perfect for dogs who love to use their nose and handlers who want to build confidence, teamwork, and practical scent‑sport skills.

What we cover:

• Tracking — following a human scent trail with accuracy
• Trailing — scent discrimination and following the “right” person
• Area searches — searching open spaces for hidden finds
• Recall skills — building reliability even around distractions
• Plus other essential scent‑sport foundations

How the class runs:

• Dogs work one at a time to ensure focus, safety, and quality learning
• When not working, dogs settle comfortably in their cars
• Handlers receive coaching throughout so every dog gets the most from their turn

• Saturdays at 2.30pm
• 1 hour
• Maximum 6 dogs
• £20 per dog
• Outdoor training as standard
